How to Get Rid of your Dandruff!

Hey hey! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. New Year's is just around the corner...actually, it's this weekend. THIS YEAR HAS GONE BY TOO FAST! Hopefully our 2012 will be amazing and fun and full of new adventures. Anyways recently, my boyfriend and I were talking about his hair and how he gets dandruff sometimes. I had a dandruff problem when I was little and after the first time I ever dyed my hair..plus it's a common dilema. So today, I want to show you guys what causes Dandruff and how we can get rid of it with home remedies and products.

What Causes Dandruff?
Every day, our skin cells are renewing. This actually happens 24/7. On average, we tend to lose 487,000 cells because of this constant rejuvinating process. Dandruff occurs when the dead skin cells are maturing at a faster rate then normal and the skin cells become more clumpy, oily, and are significantly larger than normal dead skin cells. There are different factors as to why your skin will to shed more than normal. It could be the drastic weather change such as winter and summer when it is incredibly cold or hot.  It could also be your food intake or there may be something wrong with your health that your dandruff is trying to show you. Also, overuse of hair gels or sprays, harsh shampoos, and just exhaustion can be making your skin cells rejuvinate just a little too fast.

Now, let's move on to treatment...

How to Treat Dandruff...
There are many different ways you can treat your hair for dandruff. There are home remedies and there are special products specifically targeted towards dandruff. Why don't we start with the home remedies as usual...

Olive Oil - Heated olive oil is a great dandruff treatment. It's simple and everyone has olive oil in their house somewhere. Just warm up some olive oil, massage it into your hair, and rinse. Be sure to do it twice a week though! Olive oil will also condition and moisturize your hair, so it's a win win situation.

Coconut Oil - I've never heard nor seen coconut oil before, but it is used in Asia as a natural conditioner that also prevents dandruff. Not need for heat or anything, just apply the oil on to your hair and let it sit for about 30 minutes, then shower.

Tea Tree Oil - My mom used to make me use tea tree oil for everything...and it has a bit of a smell to it. But, it's an easy treatment. You can even add it to your current shampoo, so it's not like it's a difficult process. Just add 1 drop of tea tree oil for ever 1 oz of shampoo. You can even apply it directly to the scalp.

Vinegar - If you don't mind the smell of vinegar, then maybe this is for you. Sometimes, the residue from your shampoo or conditioner can make your scalp irritated and therefore cause dandruff. Vinegar is a great solution to eliminating the residue. Just mix 3 tablespoons of vinegar with a cup of water and just rinse your hair with it. You may not want to go anywhere right after...but as long as the dandruff goes, I'm sure you'll be happy.

There are more remedies that include lemon juice and limes, apple cider vinegar, and what not, but let's move on to helpful products!

Herbal essences "no flakin' way" Anti-Dandruff Shampoo - $4.19
This shampoo is easy to come by and it doesn't have an akward smell (which is the complaint of my boyfriend...). It smells fruity and delicious and also has high ratings and reviews from users. Plus, it's not that expensive and it comes in a cute bottle. ;) Very nice.

AVEDA scalp benefits Balance Shampoo - $13-$14
If you're willing to spend a little extra for a great shampoo, then this would be your best pick. With high ratings and fanastic reviews, I would definitely suggest this product. It does not weigh your hair down and keeps your hair looking refreshed. It is a tad bit expensive, but your also getting amazing quality because this shampoo does have natural ingredients featured in its formula.
JASON Tea Tree Oil Shampoo - $8.45
I have honestly never seen this shampoo in any store I've been to, but there are so many reccomendations and this shampoo has the highest rating I've seen out of all the others which is a 9.7 rating. This shampoo is hydrating and will leave your hair squeaky clean and soft. The tea tree oil is also beneficial! So you get a lot of goodies in just one bottle.

Well everyone, I hope you found this post helpful and full of useful information. Like I said, New Year's is coming up and I want to wish you all a safe holiday and hopefully I will post again before the New Year! I am so thrilled. I hope you all take care and have a wonderful rest of the week!

Very Merry Christmas!

Hello! Hello! Hello! Well I'm sure you know what today was...
IT'S CHRISTMAS
I hope everyone's Christmas was enjoyable and amazing. I had a wonderful week and a blessed Christmas. This week, I learned how to ice skate while at a surprise birthday party for a friend of mine and Anthony's. It was so fun...and easy. Then we headed out to P.F. Chang's for her birthday dinner and oh my gosh. They had the most amazing shrimp lo mein I have ever tasted in my life. So yummy. And their mango tea was great too, although they refilled it with sweet tea. Another treat was that I got to see my best friend, Cait, on Friday. I've known her all throughout high school and she has been my friend through thick and thin. She's been there when my life was spiraling downwards and when it improved. It was so nice to catch up and exchange gifts. :) She also made dinner and I brought dessert. It was nice and refreshing to spend some girl time.
Anyways...today was such a happy day. My heart has been fluttering all day. I woke up to a beautiful day outside. It wasn't a white Christmas, but it was still a lovely day that brought a smile to my face. (I don't like the snow anyways, muahahaha!) Anthony come over in the morning for breakfast and to open the gifts my parents got him. He was happy with his Timberland fleece and cashmere scarf. And he even gave me one of my gifts which was a beautiful diamond cross with a heart around it. And on the back it says "I am Loved." It is my first cross ever. I love it so much. So, we spent some time with my family, then we headed over to his house to spend time with his and open up more gifts. His mom got me the cutest slippers and some awesome smelling goodies from bath and body works. She is so sweet! And Anthony got me a Snoopy Shirt and a Hello Kitty shirt along with a Coach bag. :) So cute! He really does spoil me.
But I think the one thing that made my heart flutter was just being surrounded by people who love me or at least care for me. Everyone seemed in such good spirits. I couldn't help but smile when I got home. I can't wait for 2012 and what it has to bring. Anyways guys, I'm going to go to bed and watch the 3rd and 4th seasons of "The Big Bang Theory". I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! I will see you all next time soon!
Merry Christmas from Anthony and Me!
(Don't mind the messy hair! We just woke up..)

Treating Eczema~! Best Lotions and Home Remedies for the Job.

Hey everyone! Winter is finally here and it's the worst season for my skin. Unfortunately, winter is when my eczema acts up and becomes visible and itchy. I never get it any other time of the year, just the dry winter season. So, I know there are others who have this problem so why not find a solution?
For me, I get eczema on my shins and ankles. Luckily, I can hide it, but I still feel the need to itch and it's just a little embarrassing knowing that there's this rash on my leg...ugh. So what is eczema?

Eczema is a form of dermatitis,[2] or inflammation of the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin). - Wikipedia

It's a pain in the butt, but it can be tamed and your skin can be restored~! I am always looking for natural and less expensive ways to treat anything regarding skin and hair...and I'VE FOUND SOME FOR ECZEMA. :) You don't really need like full on recipes, but just the simplest ingredients will help!

Apple Cider Vinegar - Honestly, I'm not an apple cider fan...let alone mixed with vinegar? However, many people who have eczema have found that it does help. I heard it tastes...terrible, to say the least. But if you can manage it, all you have to do is drink 2 tablespoons a day with a glass of water and rubbing apple cider vinegar on the affected areas, you should have clearer skin in no time.

Coconut Oil - I'm not a big fan of coconuts either, but coconut oil helps in the same way apple cider vinegar does if not better. Just drink 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and also rubbing it on the affected areas. It's inexpensive and coconut oil is easy to find.

Aloe Vera - I love aloe vera. Aloe vera has been something my family uses for everything from eczema to sun burn. It is nice and cool and very soothing to inflammed skin. It will lessen any inflammation and promote healing to the affected area. Aloe vera can be found in different products, but it is a plant in it's rawest form! I suggest the plant overall.

Oatmeal - Oatmeal is one of the most beautiful things ever. I have found oatmeal the most effective when it comes to my eczema. You can use oatmeal based products, which is what I use...OR you can try a good ol' oatmeal bath. The oatmeal bath will soothe irritation and itchy skin and also cleanse the skin of any causes of the irritation. It's easy and relaxing.

Now that we've got some simple and natural ways to take care of eczema...why don't we just take a look at some products that I suggest for taming your eczema!

Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion $5-$10
I have been using this lotion ever since the cold season hit and I love it. I highly reccomend it because it is an oatmeal based product. It is fragrance free and is great for sensitive skin, such as eczema.

Eucerin Plus Intensive Repair Lotion $6.49
I've never used this specific lotion, but when I got my tattoos...this brand was my choice. When you get a tattoo, the healing process is a bit much. Your skin will become itchy because it is an open wound and is healing. So I bought Eucerin. From the reviews I've read, it is a miracle worker for eczema. It's not that expensive and it is also fragrance free and dermatologist reccomended.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Smoothing Body Butter $5.99
I have not tried this product, but it has been reviewed highly by people who have eczema. It is great for sensitive skin and people who have severe eczema. The cocoa butter and shea butter allows the skin restore it's healthy glow and moisturizes and conditions the skin making it soft and smooth.

Anyways guys, that's it for today! December 26, I will be filming a Christmas haul video and possibly another video before New Year's Eve/Day! I hope you all have an amazing week and Happy Christmahannukwanzika! May all your Holiday wishes come true!

A personal post for Today~

Hey everyone! It's been a while since my last personal post...I'm sorry! I've been focused~! MY FINALS ARE THIS WEEK. Wednesday to be exact. I am far from excited but I am as ready as I possibly can be. Ugh...
So, what's happened since my last post...
Well, me and Anthony celebrated our anniversary. It was so relaxing...although I had some freakin' terrible cramps. We spent most of the day at home just laying down and watching TV. I gave him his gifts and even made him breakfast since he was taking me out to dinner. It was truly wonderful. I gave him a ring with the three crosses at Calvary on it. Inside had Philippians 4:13. The dinner was great! It was Anthony's first time eating a Korean meal, but he seemed to enjoy it.
It was really nice and romantic in our own way. We aren't the type to do extravagant things, but when we get the chance to get away or go out to eat, we cherish it. And this was a day/night that I cherish. So anyways...here is what we got each other for our anniversary..
Our rings. He gave me mine a couple days earlier. He couldn't bear to wait. The night he gave it to me, he had to say something before letting me see the ring. I really don't want to post it on here because it was personal and very heartfelt for us both...but best believe I was crying my eyes out of happiness. It's not an engagement ring, but it kind of feels more than that to me. I love Anthony. :) He brings the biggest, dorkiest smile out of me.

And honestly, that's really the only big thing that's happened. Right now, I'm sitting in the living room watching "The Big Bang Theory" in Anthony's sweatpants. We just got done decorating the Christmas tree. I finished my Christmas shopping today which was great...but expensive. However, I felt God saying that he will help me pay for Christmas this year...and he gave me a well paying job to pay for Christmas, Israel, and my car payment. So, I'm not worried about it.
Tomorrow, I have my college finals. I think I will do fine on my accounting final...but my math final...I'mma need prayer for that one. I am good at algebra...but this math requires logic and truth tables and venn diagrams and p's and q's and GEOMETRY which is beyond my comprehension. It's wierd though. I'm good at accounting but I'm terrible at math. Ugh, oh well. I will let you all know how I did soon! Maybe...if it's not terrible. :) Anyways, I'm going to leave you all with...I don't know. A word for thought. And the word is...
PUDDING

Alright guys! I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and I think my next post will be a review on my Aveeno oatmeal based lotion! Or the St.Ives Green Tea scrub. We'll see, haha! Bye everyone.
Thanks for reading~! <3

Seasonal Skin Benefits of December~! Time for Tomato!

Hey everyone! I am so happy to be posting about tomatoes. I recently came across a product I was interested in and it's main ingredient was tomatoes. So I'm so excited because I just found out that tomatoes are normally in season in December. So, this month's seasonal benefits is TOMATOES.
Everytime I think of tomatoes, I think of cold and cooling. Well...that's why we use raw tomatoes on our skin. They have lypocene and anti-oxidants that are soooo...amazing and good for our skin. It is an amazing...fruit? (Or is it a vegetable??) And I will be sure to include some tomato-based products for you to try! So, why are tomatoes so good for our skin?

If you have Large Pores...
If you have large pores, you are more prone to infection and acne because dirt can settle in easier. What I keep seeing and highly suggest is just mixing fresh tomato juice and lime juice and applying it to your skin REGULARLY for 15 minutes a day and rinsing. This will clean out your pores and, as I said regularly, will shrink your pores. Thus, making you less prone to access dirt in your pores.

If you have Acne...
I have been prone to acne since I was little. For the first time in my life, it's actually managable. But, I'm always looking for products that help and are natural and organic. I've found those products to be most effective. So, knowing that tomatoes help with acne is awesome. Tomatoes are acidic, and their acidity does dissolve and reduce the dirt which will clean your acne. Tomatoes are also rich is Vitamin C and Vitamin A and even Vitamin K. So it also nourishes your skin while cleaning it.

If you have Excess Oil...
Excess oil is one of my major causes of acne. What you can do is combine tomato juice with an avocado and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. After you rinse, you should notice you face is less oily. You can also use cucumber juice instead of avocado if you like. Either should do the job, it's all about preferences and whether or not you're allergic to one or the other.

If you have Blackheads...
I tend to get blackheads on my nose...that's where the most oil on my face is and it's terrible. Thankfully, tomatoes can help get rid of those blackheads! For this, I would highly suggest the tomato and avocado mask because tomatoes have repellent substances which removes the blackheads while the avocado has the antiseptic and moisturizing properties which will cleanse and moisturize your face.

If you have Inflammation...
Inflammation is like redness of your skin. It can be caused by irritation from itching, a sun-burn, or another type of irritation. If you really want to soothe the inflammation, mix half of tomato that is freshly grated along with natural or organic yogurt. Both are cold and will instantly soothe the inflammation. The yogurt will give your skin protein which will make you skin soft and the tomato will neutralize your skin. It will feel so good. I promise!!

Here is a video plus. I love BubzBeauty's channel because she knows so much about skin care and hair care is she just seems so sweet and helpful. I love to feature her videos on here because they are helpful and easy to do. So...here is a short video on her DIY Tomato mask! I hope you enjoy and feel free to subscribe to her youtube channel!

Tomatoes will help your skin stay healthier and also make your skin appear younger and make it glow. Plus tomatoes are easy to get and there are plenty of tomato-based products out there. Here are the few I would try and reccomend...
Tomato-Based Products to Try...
Yes To Tomatoes Facial Starter Kit
I have seen this brand on amazon but you can also get it at Target for about $20. The Yes To brand also has 2 other facial starter kits with carrots and cuccumbers. But this one specifically uses tomatoes as it's main ingredient to promote perfectly balanced skin. It's unscented and is best used for oily-skin and it comes with 4 items which includes a tomato mask. So, I would highly suggest this for everyone. It's a great deal for an organic brand.

SkinFood Tomato Whitening Line
I've never used a SkinFood product before...but the reviews I've seen have been everything but negative. You can get SkinFood products on amazon and also at sasa.com. They also have other tomato products like hand lotion. This line is meant to brighten up dull skin, help clear your skin, and improve your skin tone. They also include organic acids which help dissolve the dirt in your skin and make it clearer. So, if you're willing to pay $20 per item in this line I would suggest it.
Well everyone! That's all I have for you today!!! I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope it was beneficial. Let me know if you have any of the products above or have tried any tomato facial masks. I would love to hear your stories and reviews! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend~! Take care and stay blessed!

Love. ~A Dedicated Post~

Hey everyone! I hope all is well! Today's post is a dedicated post. Tomorrow is December 1st. Tomorrow is mine and Anthony's anniversary. I will be honest with you, before I met Anthony...anniversaries were corny or pointless. Woohoo, 1 year. But, since I've been with Anthony...my whole perspective on life and love have completely changed. This post is about the past year. This post is dedicated to you, Anthony.
I still remember the phone call I recieved 364 days ago. It was 4am...and you knew I had to wake up at 5am for school. But you knew I would answer regardless. You sounded nervous. I was just happy to hear your voice, but your words still mean so much to me. You mentioned how you've never had a girl cook breakfast and bring it over to make sure you ate. I would always make you an omelette with toast. I tried to make it fancy one day by adding strawberries, but your mom ate it. You explained how being with me as a person helped you really appreciate someone not just for their looks, but for their personality and what they have to offer to the world. You talked about how I pressed you to keep God in your life and keep you focused on his word. You said no girl has ever done that for you. You asked me to be your girlfriend (for the 2nd time) and I remember crying and saying yes.
That day still brings a tear or two to my eye. Since then, my whole life has taken a turn for the better. You have been an amazing boyfriend and an amazing man of God. We have fallen short at times, but we continue to pray and ask God for his forgiveness. The other night you mentioned how our bishop once said that "buying a girl gifts is not for showering her with, but to treat her like a queen." (paraphrasing...) Although I love each and every gift you have given me (especially my anniversary gift..but we'll get to that in a second)...you've made me feel like a queen without anything. Just by taking care of me when I have cramps and am PMS'ing; just by rubbing my feet after an 8 hour shift at work, just by watching Disney movies with me even if they are childish...you've made me feeling queen. No words can describe how...thankful I am to God and to you.
You are honest. Loving. Caring. Amazing. Talented. Incredible...y handsome. ;) You are always determined to share God's love and word with people whether it be just through speaking or by your mixtapes. I have to admit, you inspired me. You told me that I can glorify God by creating this blog about beauty and health. You've inspired me with your mixtapes. Everything you have done for Christ and to better yourself has inspired me. I'm growing every day because of you and because of God working through you. You have a loving heart. And I hope I can inspire people the same way you have for me.
I want you to know that every moment I am by your side or in your presence or able to hear your voice...I am thankful for. I am thankful to see the smile on your face. I am thankful to rub your head or your belly. I am thankful to share a meal with you. I am thankful to see your face brighten up when you've accomplished something. I am thankful to be there for you when you are down. I am thankful for every prayer we prayed together over the phone before we say goodnight. I am thankful.
Dear Anthony, you asked what the inscription on the gift I got you says. I told you it's something I think we must keep in our hearts forever.
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. - Philippians 4:13
Love requires Strength. We need to have the strength to love another person the same way God loves us. We need strength throughout our day to stay encouraged and keep the devil at bay. We need strength to overcome obstacles that may cross our paths. We must always have strength. That is why I chose this scripture. When I saw it, I cried and knew exactly at that moment that I wanted to inscribe it on your gift. I hope you get the same idea I did, when you read it.
With that, I have one more thing to say. Anthony, Thank you. Thank you for a wonderful year together. You are an amazing man, boyfriend, and future husband. Like I said before, I never really thought much of anniversaries. But now, I am excited to see it. Because it's a celebration of growth as a couple. It's a celebration of two people putting forth effort to keep a relationship together and happy. It's a celebration of God bring two people closer and allowing them to love each other like he loves us. Thank you Anthony. I know I'm not good at words and writing and typing and what not. But just so you know...I love you.
May God bless us with another year and many more to come.

And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance. - Ephesians 5:2

Happy Thanksgiving!!! 10 Things I'm Thankful For~

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE~! I love Thanksgiving. It's one of my favorite holidays. I love all the food, all the family, and all the thanks. Today I just want to remind myself and everyone of what we should be thankful for. So here are the 10 things I am thankful for today:

1. WAKING UP
Each and every day I wake up and I don't take time to think about all the kids and adult out there who didn't get the same chance I did. Just being able to see the sun rise or the rain in the morning is truly a blessing. I woke up this morning and all my worries were gone. Just being with my family and my boyfriend's family is amazing.

2. MY FAMILY
I am always thankful for my family. I must admit, we're a pertty dysfunctional family, however. They've always taken care of me, had my back, and they've shown me love in the hardest of times. No one knows what the future holds, but I pray every day that my family will stay strong and hold on. I am thankful for every single thing they have done for me and I love them dearly.

3. MY BOYFRIEND & HIS FAMILY
I don't know how I could ever really thank my boyfriend. He's been there for me through the hardest and simplest of times. He's always been 100% honest with me and takes care of me when I'm sick. He makes me smile, he tells me I'm beautiful when I feel ugly. I love him. I'm thankful to God for his presence in my life. His family treats me like family. They invite me out, they offer me food, they offer me shelter. I am so thankful for their hospitality and their love as well. I can't wait to see them today!

4. MY PUPPIES
I love our family's dogs. My own dog, Cricket, is just such a baby. But, when I'm upset or tired, they all come over and take naps with me or will bother me until I smile. I do love them so much even when they drive me crazy!!!!

5. THE CLOTHES ON MY BACK
I think one of the main things we take for granted is our clothing. Yes I am sure 99% of people have clothing, but do they have as much as we do? Do they have to wear the same outfit day after day after day? Some people do. They don't have the means to purchase clothes when they've outgrown their current clothes. So I'm always thankful for the warmth of my clothes.

6. MY FRIENDS
Maybe this should've been up more...but they are still important to my heart! I have made some new friends since last year and they have been so wonderful and helpful. I love them so very much and God put them in my life for a reason. And I hope they know that I'm so happy to be their friend and for them to be mine. <3

7. FOOD
I'm pretty sure you all know just how much I LOVE food. I have an addiction. But, there are families out there who may not be getting a thanksgiving dinner. So of  course I am thankful for even the smallest bit of food I get today.

8. THE ABILITY TO TRAVEL
A lot of people like to travel for thanksgiving. I personally love to go up to Winchester to see family, because they are so heartwarming. But I do have to drive today to visit my boyfriend and his family, and many people don't get that opportunity to see their family members. So I am always thankful for each mile I travel to his house.

9. ANOTHER YEAR
This year was my 18th year on this earth and I am so thankful for it. This year has been by far the most magical! It's almost coming to an end, but I will never forget the beautiful and awesome things this year has had to offer. I can't wait for next year and the blessings it will bring.

10. EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO HAS READ THIS BLOG
Last, but certainly not least. You all. To each and every person reading this blog...I just want to thank you all for showing even the smallest amount interest in this blog. I really don't know how to show my appreciation for all of you. And I also want to thank those who actually follow the blog on blogger. It means so much to me and I hope that we will continue to grow in numbers and in posts. Every comment I recieve, I smile and I feel a need to respond with gratitude. You all make this blog. I may be writing the posts and doing the research, but if any of you didn't show any interest in what I post...this blog would no longer exist. So I want to thank you all! Thank you so so much.

There's my post everyone~! I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving! I would love to hear what you all are thankful for this holiday season! So, feel free to comment and spread the thanks! :)
Thanks for reading~! <3

How to Treat Chapped Lips!

Hey ladies. The worst thing about the cold season for me is chapped lips. I have always struggled with my lips especially during winter because my lips always dry out and chap up. It gets frustrating. It's gotten to the point where I am bugging my customers at work about which chapstick they find useful. Right now, I'm using TWO Blistex products. I also have a history of licking my lips because of how dry my lips get. It's gotten so bad now that I am using two products at the same time and it's still doing nothing. So, I'm taking a stand! I'm gonna figure out why my lips suck and how to take better care of them. I hope you guys find this useful!!! Let's get started...
So like I always say, the best way to find a solution is to find the problem and the reasons why FIRST. So how do our lips dry out and become chapped? Well, there are a number of reasons.

LICKING: I mentioned this above, but licking your lips can do serious damage just like washing your skin constantly. When you expose your lips to constant water, you're robbing your lips of the moisture they already contain. So ultimately, licking your lips will dry them out. This is a terrible habit of mine. When I do something that requires concentration, I tend to lick my lips a lot more and before I eat. It's a terrible habit, so I definitely need to work on that...just a bit.

THE SUN: Of course, the sun is always the worst. We need it, yet it can cause damage to our skin and lips if not protected. Our lips lack pigment/melonin which helps protect our skin from ultraviolet rays from the sun. So, try and choose lip balms that feature SPF protection.

TOOTHPASTE: I don't know many people allergic to certain types of toothpaste, but maybe this could be the reason why your lips are red and rough. You may want to rinse more thoroughly after brushing, or even just try different toothpastes until you see a difference!

FOOD: You may be allergic to foods touching your lips. It sounds terrible. But, if you have a food allergy, be sure to NOT eat it. Also, if you already have dried, chapped lips...be careful about what you eat. Acidic food/drinks, salty food, spicy food/condements, and even alcoholic drinks can irritate the skin on your lips and make the problem worse. I know that I can't eat popcorn often because it burns my lips and also lemons will hurt significantly if my lips are peeling. It sucks, but you gotta do what's best!

DEHYDRATION: If your body doesn't have the proper hydration it needs, it shows on your lips. Try drinking more water. Also, try lip balms or lipsticks that moisturize. The dry air indoors and out can cause dehydration for our skin and lips!

BREATHING: I tend to breath through my mouth rather than my nose because I have sinus problems and my nose can be stuffed for days. I've become rather accustomed to it and now I feel like I need to constantly. Although sometimes it's necessary, breathing through your mouth instead of your nose can cause our lips to dry and become chapped also.

There are more reasons such as syndromes, allergies, and what not, but these are probably the most common! So, now that we know why we get chapped lips...why not take care of them?
Here are some ways to help treat chapped lips! Some are natural and some can be bought in stores!

LIP BALMS: Use lip balms that have moisture and SPF protection. I know lots of people use regular peteroleum jelly. Ingredients that may help are shea butter and hyaluronic acid. I would highly suggest using organic lip balms and stay away from flavored lip balms.

LIPSTICKS: Yep! Turns out one of our favorite makeup items is actually beneficial. A lot of lipsticks have moisturizing ingredients along with SPF protection. So, not only can your lipstick make your entire look, it can also help chapped lips.

HOME REMEDIES: As you all know, I love DIY home remedies. They are fun to make and apply and it's all organic and natural. One of the most simple remedies I've ever seen is for chapped lips and that is to cut slices of cucumber...and then rub it on your lips to soothe irritation and retain moisture. Also, honey is an amazing moisturizer and helps heal. So just rub some honey on your lips! Try not to lick it though!!! You can also buff your lips with a tooth brush and some vaseline. And last but not least, olive oil. Olive oil is great moisturizer for your lips and hair. Just rub some on your lips and that is all!

Products I'm Interested In...
So, I would not leave you ladies without sharing products I'm interested in. I personally do not like Blistex products. I have tried so many in hopes that they would work, but for me they don't. So, here are some products that have amazing reviews and would reccomend for myself and you all.
EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm
A girl I work with was using this and she said she liked it. I've read tons of reviews and 95% were positive. They are cute and relatively reasonably priced. I believe you can find it was walgreens and CVS.
NIVEA Milk & Honey Lip Balm
Everywhere I look, someone is talking about Nivea lip products. I suggest the milk and honey, because...well milk and honey are very good for your lips. They have a wide range of other lip balms that have SPF and moisturizing properties!
HURRAW! Green Tea Lip Balm
I honestly just saw this today on AprilAthena7's blog and I was immediately interested just because it said "green tea". You all know I love green tea products. It's all organic and looks very moisturizing. I may get this for Christmas? Haha, maybe maybe.

Anyways ladies, I hope you enjoyed this post! :) I hope you have a wonderful thankgiving!! Expect a little gift from me then!! Have a blessed week and stay safe!

How to Make Your Hair Grow Naturally!

Hey ladies! Long time no post? I am trying! Anyways, today's topic is how to stimulate hair growth naturally. Everytime I go to my hair dresser, she always is surprised at how long my hair is because it grows so fast. I constantly have to trim my bangs because they grow out so fast and within weeks they are down to my chin! I never used fancy products back in the day, but since my perm, I have found my hair growth has slowed a little. So I've been finding ways to stimulate my hair growth without using any harsh chemicals or...the dreaded extensions. I also want thicker hair since the cold season is here, so here are some wyas that may work for you and I hope they do 100%!
TRIM
Every resource I used were very forward about getting your hair trimmed. If you really want to grow out your hair, you need to get rid of your split ends and breakage. It permits a more healthier growth in your hair, plus it makes it look nice and tamed. Not frizzy. As regards to length, just trim off the split ends. Don't take off inches upon inches thinking it'll grow back twice as fast!

TURN DOWN THE HEAT
I am pretty sure this is obvious, but just in case. Heat can do a ton of damage to your hair. Blow drying, perming, straightening, curling. These can all effect hair growth. Not only do it damage the hair, but if you use it every day, it could cause your hair to break. So minimize the heat products to 2 times a week at least. I'm very sure you will see results not only with your hair growth, but with the general health of your hair.

VITAMINS & MINERALS
Our hair is always in need of vitamins and minerals. There are specific vitamins and minerals for your hair, however, that promote hair growth! These vitamins include: B6, folic acid, magnesium, and zinc!

VEGGIES & PROTEIN
I cannot stress enough how the right foods can be beneficial to our skin and hair! For your hair, choose specifically green, yellow, and orange vegetables. They contain beta carotene which promotes hair growth and supports hair health. I personally love peppers such as green peppers and orange peppers. They add color to a dish and very awesome health benefits! You also need to get a good amount of protein in your diet. (Note: A healthy amount!!!) Protein levels a direct to the health of your hair. If you aren't getting enough of protein, there is no way your hair can have the strength to grow. Try eating some eggs in the morning. I eat a lot of bean dishes (especially when my boyfriend's grandmother is in town...) and my hair has grown some since!

DIRECT HEALTH
I want to point out to you guys how your stress can effect your health and beauty. Stress and lack of sleep can stunt your hair growth. Be sure to just relax and get 7 to 8 hours of sleep. If you want beautiful hair, you need to take care of yourself!

MASSAGE & MOISTURIZE
Hair can grow faster if there is proper blood circulation in the head and body. While you're in the shower and using shampoo, be sure to just massage your scalp thoroughly for a couple minutes before you rinse. This will increase blood circulation, allowing hair to grow more properly. Also, your hair may be dry from all the pollutants in the air which can stunt hair growth also. Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to help give your hair the moisture it needs throughout the day.

Now that that's settled, I do reccomend some products that I have been using to kind of volumize and help my hair growth by keeping it healthy.

My Shampoo & Conditioner
I use DOVE Damage Therapy Cool Moisture shampoo and conditioner. It has green tea and cucumber extracts which have done wonders for my hair. Plus it's affordable and easy to get. Every since I have been using this, I have seen my hair becoming shinier and less oily. Plus, my hair smells awesome. My layers are a little more defined and I can run my fingers through my hair without a tangle. Always nice, right?

My Hair Mask
Next is my beloved hair mask! Unfortunately, this baby is hard to get for me. I go through sasa.com to get it and I am far from disappointed with it. It is the Essentials Ultra Honey & Shea Butter hair mask. Everytime I use this product on my hair, I see more volume. I love having volumious hair because it helps make my face look...better? (For lack of better words...) Also, my hair just feels so much healthier and softer. It's an awesome product and I highly reccomend it.

Anyways everyone, that is all I have today. I hope you guys found this helpful!!! :) Have a wonderful week everyone! Stay safe and keep well! Be blessed~!!!

Feed Your Skin with Oatmeal!

Hey ladies! I'm baaaack!!!! It's been forever since my last post! I am trying so hard, but I hope to do a personal post tonight just to kind of catch you all up on the different things of my life. :)
As for now, here's another health and beauty post for you all to enjoy and use to your benefits!

So, I will be honest with you...I have never really liked oatmeal. I could never stand the texture or the taste, it was awkward for me. I would never go near it until I was reading so many articles on how awesome oatmeal is for skin. And of course, I was tempted. So I did a little research for you all and here are some awesome skin benefits you can treat yourself with by oatmeal!
I recently bought the new Aveeno Oatmeal moisturizing lotion and I am very happy and impressed with the results. I guess that's why I wanted to do a post in the first place. I have seen a significant difference in the way my skin looks and how smooth it is! I am very pleased. But how is oatmeal good for your skin?
Well first off, oatmeal is filled with antioxidants that provide healthier circulation throughout and can do extreme wonders for your skin. It also has omega-3s and fatty acids which can be beneficial too.

Fighting Acne
Oatmeal is an all natural product meaning it doesn't have harsh chemicals that will cause your skin to break out even more. It is a natural cleanser and gentle exfoliater. It soaks up all the impurities without pushing harmful chemicals into your pores! This is important especially for people with extremely sensitive skin. It will do wonders and make your face smoother and brighter without the excess oil.

Treating Dry and Irritated Skin
Oatmeal contains anti-inflammatory properties which means it is great to use if your have irritated, red skin. Colloidol oatmeal may be best for this situation. People use oatmeal to treat their sunburns or poison ivy by healing the skin and opening your pores.

Here are some recipes for facials masks and baths you guys can use/take to better your skin and even relax yourself in!

For People with Excess Oil
All you need is ground (colloidol) oatmeal, water, and milk if you please! Very simple for those who don't have much time on their hands. Just mix the oatmeal and water together to make a thick paste and add milk whenever you please. You can also replace the water with milk if you'd like. It will nourish your face and help you control the oil!

For People with Acne
This mask is going to be more an exfoliater! All you need is 1/3 cup of fast cooked oatmeal, 1/2 cup of milk, and 1/4 of honey. Mix the water and oatmeal together and cook for however long the package requires you to cook it. Once it's cooling, add the honey and mix mix mix! Then apply a thin, even coat on your skin. You can add some lemon into the mix also to help exfoliate. After it dries, go ahead and rinse! Oatmeal will absorb excess oil, exfoliate dead/excess skin cells, and soothe your skin!

For Baths
Just fill your tub up with lukewarm water and add colloidol oatmeal. Your bath will turn a milky white and will benefit your skin and help you relax!! Very easy and it will make you feel like a princess.

A little bonus from BubzBeauty!

I hope you guys enjoy and start to use oatmeal a little more!!! It is definitely beneficial and beautiful! If you guy shave any more recipes, tips, or just have tried oatmeal before and enjoyed the results; I would love to hear your testimonies and comments!!!
Be sure to stop by tonight! A personal post is'a coming!
Take care everyone, have a blessed week and stay healthy! Be sure to bundle up because it's getting cold!!

Biore Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash Review!

At long last, it is time for my first review! DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored review. This is solely based on my personal experience with this product and it may affect you and your skin differently. Anyways,  I told you guys a while back that I wanted to buy the Biore Marshmallow Whip Facial Wash because I had seen all these bloggers saying such amazing things about it. Well I got it a couple weeks ago and gave it a bit of a test run and I am far from disappointed.
So first off, the packaging. It's very simple, yet adorable. I got the original pink version and it fits in perfectly with the rest of my facial products. The marketing for this product is adorable too...with the little foam angel and the attractive girl who has two little foam blops on her cheeks. I just like the bottle shape and color, don't judge me.
First things first, the foam. The main asset of this product is the fine, fluffy, and high density foam. The high density foam creates a cushion for your face from your hand and helps make it seem like it's massaging your face. It feels so good, let me tell you. Plus the bubbles are incredibly tiny which helps cleanse your face much better, leaving it cleaner for longer. I normally use this product at night because I use an exfoliating cleanser in the morning, but I find it more effective for me at night also. Your pillow has so much dirt from your hair and dust from your room, it can cause your skin to break out. Since I've started using this facial wash...my skin has cleared up incredibly. The results are remarkable to me...seeing as how I have had sensitive skin that has almost been impossible to clear up.
Moving on, the main ingredient is collagen and camellia sinensis leaf extract. These leave your skin plump and moisturized. I can definitely feel a difference in my skin after washing it. My skin feels plump and cute and that is something I really do enjoy about this product. Plus, the ingredients don't leave a strong smell and that is also a plus! Products with a strong smell tend to have certain ingredients that cause my skin to break out even more. With the marshmallow whip, I can't even really smell anything...which I really don't mind!
Overall, this product is truly fantastic. The only thing that is disappointing is that...it's hard to get. For me at least. There aren't many Asian stores close to me, so I will have to stick to Amazon.com to get ahold of this baby! I highly recommend it though, even if you do have sensitive skin! It is definitely worth the money.
I hope you guys enjoyed this review! It's my first, so please feel free to comment on how I can improve or whether you found this review to be helpful or not. I really appreciate it everyone! I hope you have a wonderful week! Take care and stay blessed!

It's the Simple Things in Life...

Hey everyone. It's been a crazy week so far. And unfortunately, I have the sniffles. I have been sneezing since 2am last night. I was sneezing before that, but today it's gotten just a wee bit worse. My eyes feel like they are bulging out. Speaking of my eyes, I've been having to use my eye drops a lot recently. They've been itching for unknown reasons. But the eye drops are helping...I haven't itched my eyes since I took them.
Anyways, I don't know. I really feel like I have been taking life for granted. I have been taking the things in my life for granted. My heart has been feeling so heavy and I couldn't explain why. I thought it was my family's situation. After talking about it to Anthony, I did feel better. But this morning at 2am, I woke up crying. I have no recollection of the dream I had. It scared me though. Maybe God is trying to tell me something through this feeling? I know I've had this feeling before, but I could never understand what it was...

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" - Philippians 4:6-7

It does feel like it may be anxiety at times. But what is it that I'm anxious about? I have a job that pays well, I am doing well in college, I have a wonderful boyfriend whom I cherish with all the love God's given me, my family loves me to no bounds...yet I still feel down. I wonder if I have to take a step back and look at everything from a distance. Maybe I need to re-evaluate things. Maybe God feels he's been placed second in my life. Maybe God is looking for me to reselect my priorities.

"And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. "  - Matthew 22:37-38

Maybe God is looking for me to just enjoy the simple things in life again. Maybe I've been thinking about the more materialistic items or a more complex way of life that is just unnecessary. I remember when me and Anthony first started dating, all I wanted to do was have dinner and a movie at home with him. Nothing more, nothing less. Back then I didn't have a job and was more conservative with my money. Now, I have a relatively well paying job and I find myself wanting to venture out more instead of enjoying a day at home resting.

"The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple." - Psalms 19:7

I guess I am beginning to answer my own question now. God is asking me to reselect my priorities, stop having anxiety over my priorities, and go back to the simple things. Because it's the simple things in life we oughta cherish the most...right? The simple things bring more wisdom and understanding than the things of the world. I think once I get the chance, I'm just going to spend some time talking with God, asking him what he wants of me.
Anyways, I may post again today depending on if I have time. Thanks for reading guys, I know this post was a bit personal, but it definitely helped me out. I hope it may help you out also. Feel free to comment and have a great week everyone~!

Crazy, Busy, yet Amazing Week!~

Hey everyone! Today is going to be a personal post! :) I have been doing so many things lately. I have so much to tell and show you guys!! This past week, well no, month has been incredible. I am so thankful for the many things that have happened and my heart is so incredibly happy. I have a strange feeling that this post may be long...
PUMPKINS!
So first off, me and Anthony got pumpkins for the season! We were debating on whether to cut them and make jack-o-laterns or paint them with paint markers. After debating which way would last the longest, we decided to paint them...as Princess Peach and Mario!!! They aren't finished yet, but here's a picture of Anthony drawing the outline of Mario.

NEW CAR!
After much awaiting...I'VE FINALLY BOUGHT A CAR! I got my loan approved and on my first day car shopping, I got a wonderful little 2006 Scion xB! It is pretty much everything I need and much more. It has so much space in it and you can stretch your legs out in the backseats! Today I bought Anthony a desk and it fit right in, no problem!! Plus...the radio changes color...I'm so wierd and easily happy.  Plus, it has double the gas mileage than my old truck. I am so thrilled. :) Ahhhh...not to mention, they messed up my tags so I had to run all the way back down to the dealership and have them replace the tags with the correct ones. They gave me a $25 gift certificate to any restaurant of my choice...so I chose my favorite restaurant in the area, Fujiya.

HOMEMADE DINNER BY THE BOYFRIEND~❤
This was so amazing. I can't even describe to you guys. I have been telling Anthony how much I wanted to have a nice home cooked meal. He went out of town for a wedding and promised me that he would surprise me with my favorite meal. So after my last class on Monday, I came by and this is what I walked in to. He also got me flowers that he said his niece helped him pick out...they had cute colors and they brighten up my morning and my room! It was so beautiful...I wanted to cry so bad!! I am so thankful. He even bought extra ingredients in case I wanted more. It was just...amazing to me. I really am blessed with a wonderful man in my life. I can't help but smile thinking about it...Anthony, if you read this, thank you again for the amazing meal. :)

LUNCH AND SHOPPING WITH THE BOYFRIEND

So the day after our amazing dinner, I treated Anthony to a lunch at Fujiya. It was very delicious! I got the teriyaki vegetable bento and Anthony got the chicken yakisoba. And we both enjoyed strawberry lemonades that we pretty darn good. After our lunch, we went by the mall and did some shopping. Honestly, it was nice to just get out of the house and spend time together. I don't know, but that day just made me smile...we both were just grateful for that day and we are grateful for eachother...:)
And now finally...today. I spent some time with Anthony's grandmother watching cooking shows and what not while Anthony tried out his new printer. It was nice to relax and get some naps in and just lay down. It was awesome~! Anyways, here is my outfit for today!
There is nothing like wearing jeans and t-shirt! I love to dress and up but...every once in a while, I do enjoy comfortable clothes. The shirt was on sale and Anthony bought it for me since I bought him an Angry Birds shirt. So comfy~!
I hope you guys have a wonderful week ahead of you!!! I am so thankful! I have gained more followers on here and on twitter and I am so grateful! I hope you guys really do enjoy this blog and if you have any ideas or questions, do comment! I would to love to help out!

What Causes Our Skin to Break Out!

Hey everyone. So I was inspired by BubzBeauty's recent post on her website about how having too much sugar and certain foods in our diet can actually cause our skin to break out. So, I really wanted to widen it out to more problems. So I hope you all enjoy and find this information useful! I know I have...o_o. My skin is starting to break out bad again. Especially on the right side of my face..it's terrible. So, take a look!
So I have found that the livestrong website has a lot of details on what causes acne on our face. It's crazy at how little things can cause a reaction on our skin. So, let's begin...
Oil - Our face is not meant to be oily. It's supposed to have a light glow, and not a shine. Our phones, hands, hair, pillows, and most items that touch our face have dirt and oil on them.  I can tell which side I use my phone most on because it is more irritated and persistant. Also, oil-based make up products don't help much either. Plus they're directly on your face, so the oil has an even bigger chance to seep in. You can reduce this by wiping your phone off a couple times a day, washing your pillow once a week, and using less oil-based products.

Hormones - Some of us aren't blessed with perfect hormones. For me, I have incredibly terrible fluctuations in my hormones. For the longest time, I could not control it! Unfortunately, these fluctuations can provoke and cause new acne. Hormone changes create excess oil which may not reach the skin's surface, causing acne.

Sweat - I'm pretty sure most people hate to sweat. There is a distinct smell afterwords and it can occur in the oddest places. It can also trap the oil and dirt within the skin if you don't wash and cleanse your face after working out or being outside too long in the heat.

Weather Changes - When the weather shifts from Summer to Autumn, Winter to Spring, our skin becomes unbalanced and this may cause your face to ultimately break out to provide balance. Also, especially during the cold season, the dry air also dries out your skin, so be sure to moisturize daily.

Air Travel - I don't travel by plane often. When I went to Japan though in 2006, I kind of noticed my skin was a little more itchy and there was redness and acne plunged forth like no tomorrow. And since I may be going to Israel next year, I was kind of interested on how air travel affects our skin. If you think about it, plane cabins have low humidity. Because our skin retains moisture, the dry air will begin to suck out that moisture you have. This can cause your skin to be dehydrated and can trap oil which can cause breakouts. (...now I know...).

Food Consumption - Certain foods, such as dairy or sugar, can cause our skins to break out. Some diary products contain certain hormones in them. These hormones can clash with our hormones and thus BAM break outs. Our skin is supposed to release certain things that our body is not in agreement with. Dairy and sugar is hard on our bodies because it is harder to digest and may come out through our skin as blemishes.

Stress - This is something that I have trouble with. I have never been able to manage my stress well. it's getting worse, especially now with college, my job, and things in between. I am trying my hardest though. Stress can do some major damage to our skin. When we are stressed out, we release adrenal glands which in turn makes us produce more oil and our skin becomes even more oily. I am starting to find ways, however, to control my stress. I've found that this blog has really helped me relieve stress because I'm focusing on things I enjoy and love. Also, just relaxing and resting can help also.

Ways to Break Out Less - Hydrating your skin and keeping it moisturize helps. Vitamin D and water can help reduce break outs. Rinsing with cold water have you've cleansed your face will help not only with your skin, but with your blood vessels are dark circles. Clean pillowcase, clean phone, clean hair, clean hands all will help! Also adjusting your diet will help also.

Well I hope you guys found this post helpful. It really helped me, and I hope it does the same for you! Let me know if you any more information or what you really liked about this post! I really would like your feedback. :)
I hope you all have a fantastic week! Happy Monday, haha! (There is no such thing...) and take care!

Seasonal Skin Benefits! Pumpkin season!

Hey ladies, it's fall finally! And soon it'll be halloween. I think the one of the things I love most about fall is carving pumpkins. It wasn't until recently that I wondered...are pumpkins beneficial to our health and skin? Turns out, they are. I am so excited to try some pumpkin inspired facial masks~!! I love pumpkin tasting anything! Anyways...let's move on....
So like most fruits and veggies, pumpkins are rich in nutrients and anitoxidants which give your skin a natural healthy glow. Basically, the seeds, the insides, and even the skin of the pumpkin are packed with everything your skin needs this season.
One of the things I found most interesting were the vitamins in pumpkins:
Vitamin A - Vitamin A helps soothes and softens our skin which can be hard during the cold season.
Vitamin C - Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects our skin from sun damage and free radicals.
Vitamins E and T - These vitamins are considered the pumpkin's acne fighting vitamins. They reduce inflammation, reduce pore size, control excess oil (perfect for me...), and above all prevent the appearance of pimples, blackheads, and blemishes.
Now for me, I have to exfoliate every morning. It's hard to keep up with it, but I manage. Pumpkins carry a natural enzyme that helps dissolve dead skin cells and promote growth for new skin sells. Also, these natural enzymes are perfect for your feet and hands since we can get cracks easily during the dry, cold season.
Now, pumpkin seeds are also good too! Every part of a pumpkin is beneficial~! The seeds' oil contains fatty acids of omega-3 and are good sources of zinc and iron. How do zinc and iron help your skin? Well...
Zinc is a neccessary mineral in our body. It has to be taken in smaller quantities than iron, but if you're short on zinc, then your body has all the tall-tale signs: red, greasy skin; poor hair growth; dandruff; brittle nails; and even...a craving for chocolate (oh my gosh...). So, if you need some more zinc in your body, carve out a pumpkin and roast the seeds! They are so yummy.
Iron can help prevent fatigue and also promote good skin tones. It can help with resistance to stress which can benefit our entire body!

So, since we have all the important information out of the way~I want to share with you some pumpkin facial recipes!

Recipe #1: Papaya Pumpkin Mask
2/3 cup fresh papaya, mashed
15 oz. can of puree pumpkin
1 egg, beaten
This mask is supposed to be applied after you cleanse your face. Apply the mask avoiding the eye areas. This mask works like a scrub and will exfoliate your skin, so be a little gentle when massaging the mask onto your skin. Leave the mask on for about 10 minutes, then rinse. I will say though, the mask is fairly thick so you may want to rinse in a kitchen sink! After words, your skin should have a glow and feel fresh~!

Recipe #2: Vanilla Pumpkin Mask
1/2 cup pureed organic pumpkin
1 to 2 drops of vanilla or vanilla essential oil
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
They say you can add honey or natural yogurt to this recipe if you like! So mix the ingredients and apply a thin layer on your face avoiding the eye areas. Leave the mask on for about 10 minutes, then wash off with a face cloth. Your skin should look beautiful and feel soft!

Alright ladies, that's all I have for today. But, just an update...I am getting my hair dyed today!! I am so excited. I can't wait. Also, I got my loan for $9000 approved! Which means, NEW CAR! So today when my dad comes home from work, we will be going car shopping. Things are really starting to look up. Ahhh, maybe I will post again tonight? Haha anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this post and hopefully you will try out this awesome seasonal mask! Let me know how the masks work for you or if you found other recipes!
Thanks for reading~! <3
